Of late some parents force their children to do academic activities during summer vacation. This, in my opinion, is really unfair. There are many arguments to prove that summer vacation is not for academics but for students’ holistic development.
Firstly, students who go through ten-month-long academics eagerly wait for their vacation to come by. They have great expectations and there are great many things to be done during this carefree life. Secondly, academics alone cannot make a student successful. All students have personal interests. Summer vacation gives them a chance to pursue such interests. Thirdly, socializing, taking part in physically and intellectually involving sports and games, visiting homes of friends’ and relatives and the like are possible during vacation.
Above all, vacation gives them opportunities to learn life skills like swimming, climbing trees, trekking and the list goes endless. When children have all these things in their agenda during vacation, is it fair to impose any academics, let it be of some future implication too, on them? It is unfair in many more counts. So it is better let them from doing any academic activities.
However, if students themselves are prepared enough to pursue some academic activities so that they could be much confident when then get graduated to a higher level, it is welcome and worth encouraging too. But there should not be any coercion of any kind. Concentration should be more on their many sided development than mere academics.
The above arguments are enough to support the view expressed. But there is room for academics only if children desire so. Here also I think it is better if parents encourage their children to engage themselves in non-academic pursuits.

Every child is born with a potential or two that is/are enough to make him or her succeed in life. Unfortunately, today, many children fail due to several pressures. Anyway, if there is will, children themselves can pursue their ways themselves and succeed.
Let find out those major cause. The first thing is parental pressure. Today, for many nuclear parents their children are pawns in their hands, and the former has the last say in everything children do. This is the case with affluent parents. Secondly, it is poor socio economic condition that makes many potential children fail. For example, an exceptionally talented child of a poor family has to sacrifice his/her talents because there may be many other pressing things in their life. There are many other causes. Social divides like digital, gender, rural-urban, to mention a few, are reasons enough too.
Needless to say, this dichotomy is bound to have very severe effects. Firstly, it leads to loss of talents. For example, a talented poor child, if not fostered well, will fail to contribute to humanity. Secondly, when potential children fail to fetch what they deserve in life, they get frustrated. Since every mistake is taken as an opportunity to do better, some people believe that children should be given enough freedom to commit mistakes, whereas some others say they should be instructed to avoid mistakes as it enables them to be careful and conscious.

Since change is natural and development is but change, the possibility for change in cultural values too is possible in today’s fast paced world. It is true to a great extent that, irrespective of place and time, development changes values.
To begin with, change is quiet human and it is humans’ inherent urge to change from what is today that has made them stand where they are standing now. Obviously, a change is not possible without touching the things around whether it is physical or cultural or even spiritual.
Let me cite an example to prove my point. In the past people attached a lot of sentiments with personal and family visits. People used to complain of if the frequency is far beyond their expectations. But now, thanks to development is communication and fast paced life, people are happy the way they are. No matter they meet face to face or visit each other’s family. It did have some cultural value, we cannot help it though.
However, there a few cultural values that resist change even if the force of development is much stronger. For example, many people are not ready to compromise on their personal values like truthfulness, helping mentality, family characteristics. But their number is negligibly small. Barring such a small lot, everything is influenced by development. Eroding social values is a bit disturbing though.
In short, it is right to conclude that development is bound to change established values greatly today. However, we cannot ignore the fact that human life per se has become much better. At least people have developed such a culture of change and development.

Many people think that cigarette advertising should not be banned since this would limit our free choice in this matter. The most important reason why cigarette advertising should be banned is that cigarette is bad for our health. Smoking causes lung cancer and heart disease. Many people also suffer from slow and painful death from a disease called emphysema.

Finally cigarette smoking may lead to another problem namely drug addiction. Although there is not conclusive evidence that this often happens, many experts in this area feel that there is a connection between the two.
Perhaps a solution to this problem is the education of young children concerning the dangers of taking up this habit. Also a heavy tax could be placed on cigarettes so that youngsters would not be able to afford them. In any case, it seems beyond any reasonable doubt that cigarette advertising should be banned.

Speak about a skill you wished to learn
• What that was
• When you wanted to learn
• Why you failed to learn it
Well, we all need to horn some skills in our life.
Some are able to master all the skills they wish to learn.
Some others fail in some.
The same, way I too wished to learn a skill.
It was driving.
And I wanted to learn it while I was doing my higher education.
And I had even made arrangements with a driving school.
And as per the arrangement, I was supposed to undergo road training for 30 days, and my master wanted me to be ready in the early morning, at 6.00 every day.
Unfortunately, that was not the right time for me, and the school was not able to give me a suitable time either.
Somehow I attended a few days’ classes.
And after a few days, I turned irregular, and it went on for a long time, and finally, I was forced to quit that effort midway through.
And now, at times, I feel that I had made a big mistake.
Now we have a car, and my brother and father drive it. But sadly enough, my liking for driving is still there, it gets intense whenever I see them drive.
Sadly enough, now I find it more difficult to go for driving class than it was before when I went attending, and later abandoned. 2 mnts.

GRAPH ON THE POPULARITY OF MODES OF TRAVEL TO AND FROM WORK
The graph breaks up data on different modes of transport people of a European city used to travel to and from work in three periods, 1960, 1980 and 2000.
To begin with, in 1960, 20% people traveled by bus. This figure went above 25% in 1980. But, when it was 2000, the percentage came close to 15%. When it comes to car users, in 1960, hardly seven percent people used it. In 1980, it showed more than three times increase, 25%, and in 2000 it went past 35%, recording a seven fold rise.
Coming to bike, its popularity declined over the years. When more than 25% people biked to work in 1960, the corresponding figure for 1980 was 20%. The biggest fall was recorded in the year 2000; hardly seven percent. The percentage of those who walked stood at 35% in 1960. In the following two periods, it stood slightly above 15% and below 10% respectively, a decline more than three times.
