Ever since the beginning of human life, competition has been there in the world. It plays a major role in the survival of mankind. People enjoy various advantages out of this. Of course, it has some disadvantages as well. 39 words
Competition offers lots of benefits to individuals, societies and nations. The first and foremost thing is that it encourages people to be diligent. Nowadays, people are very hard-working to be successful, to maintain positions, to get promotions and to be famous in the society. People, from all spheres of life, work hard to earn more and more and be successful. For example; Michael Philis*, carved out a niche for himself in the history of Olympics through his relentless efforts leading to a series of gold medals. 85 words
Besides these, with the emergence of international competition, countries get fame and wealth. International competitions are mainly in the field of science and technology, sports and games, and trade and commerce. When a person wins in an international event, it not only gives fame to the person, but also to the state he belongs to. For example, when India won cricket world cup, India became famous. 65 words
With the emergence of globalization, competition has become unavoidable. Multinational companies are striving hard to withstand the pressures of competition. As they demand high quality manpower, professionals get highly tensed and selfish to maintain their positions. And competition makes people resort to unethical practices to defeat the opponent. For example; doping in sports, and bribing and influencing judges in cultural events. 60 words
To conclude, it is a fact that competition is ubiquitous and success and failure are results of it. Even though it has some disadvantages, it promotes sportsman spirit, hard work and cooperation among individuals and nations.
