Though aqua-tourism prospects are widely being exploited world over, it is a fact that this tourism is doing much more harm than good to the people and ecology. So it needs to be discouraged.

It is a fact that aqua tourism, as a tourism genre, is doing great harm to people and ecology since it operates on water. So the need for discouraging it is important, but we cannot simply ignore its potential though.

Keeping the available water clean and preserving water reserves undisturbed are of greater importance than what water based tourism is likely to generate by way of revenue. It is evident and a fact that many automobiles are on the move on water, and the effluences they discard are doing great harm to the biodiversity. Coupled with this is the wastage of fresh water for entertainment purposes in water theme parks. Conducting races on water, taking expeditions under water etc disturb aqua life. So the need for discouraging aqua tourism is felt more today than ever.

However, aqua tourism as an industrial component is so powerful that it is able to generate great revenue and employment opportunities to people. So it is hard to simply ignore it, rather, instead of promoting further activity on water, we may be able to develop efficient alternatives means to ensure that water bodies are not harmed. Since the whole world is facing pollution based problems leading to shortage of drinking water, wasting water for tourism is not a good idea.

To conclude it, it is right to say that any development exercise needs to be sustainable and eco-friendly. Otherwise, life on earth in the long run may not be possible. So, aqua tourism does need to be water-friendly.
