AN ESSAY BY MY STUDENT MS. JOHNCY JOHN.
Today’s
communication instruments which are affordable and accessible for people who
belong to all sections of the society have made human life much easier, faster
and more comfortable. However, there are people who strongly believe that
everything is not so fine with these tools of communication. Discuss.
Modern communication
technology has revolutionized the lives of everyone greatly. Many people
recognize the immense benefits brought by communication technology. Nevertheless,
some people think about the problems that cannot be ignored. This essay is an
attempt to discuss both the views.
On the one hand,
communication is the buzzword today it does wonders in improving the quality of
life beyond our imagination. It has changed the world into a global village
where everyone stays connected. Besides, huge data can be transmitted to any
part of the world in a minute. Moreover, 24x7 instant communication is possible
in very nook and corner of the world. For example, e-governing, e-banking,
e-billing etc. enable huge administrative work through various communication
methods.
In addition to that,
regardless of the social status, everyone has personalized communication
platforms which were only accessible to the affluent in the bygone days. For instance,
mobile phone helps even an ordinary person to keep himself connected to his
kith and kin at any time of the day. Also, the internet has made everything
transnational. It offers a level-playing field for all. So it is right to say that
newer communication methods have transformed our lives in grand manner.
On the other hand, we cannot
ignore the problems. The number of cyber crimes is increasing day by day. Misuse
of communication technology converts many into criminals. To cite an example, some
people use mobile phones to intrude into other people’s privacy. Besides,
extensive online time spoils people’s social, emotional and physical health. Further
more, antisocial elements are using these technologies for destructive
businesses. There is a little concern obviously.
To conclude, the discussion
reveals that there are greater possibilities than problems. Again, it is right to
add that most the problems are man-made so that they can be managed with the judicious
use of technology.
