An essay by NIMISHA< my student. You may try to find out the question to this answer.

Not many would deny the fact that tobacco is a substance which creates several social problems. In this context, I believe that it is right to agree with the opinion of getting tobacco banned. Let me explain it.

As tobacco brings in a lot of hazards to mankind, both social and personal, I tend to agree with those who opine to ban tobacco. In my view, primarily, the one who uses tobacco is not only destroying his/her life, but also the one’s who are around them. Let me cite an example. A recent study on child birth shows that, if one parent is addicted to tobacco, the chance for having a handicapped child is 0.5%, and in case of both the parents happen to be addicts, the rate increases to more than 0.9%. Besides all these, passive smoking causes lung cancer and other respiratory tract disorders, it is right to ban tobacco. A sentenced is removed.

However, getting tobacco banned is not a cake walk though. I believe that it is very difficult to carry out a blanket ban, especially in developing countries, as more than 50% of people use tobacco for various reasons; to enjoy, to get rid of tension and the like. Besides this, in developing countries like India, though smoking in public places has been banned, not many are abiding by this rule.

To wind up, I find it right to say that, though tobacco industries extend great financial support to the economy of many countries, considering its harmful effect on generations, it is wise to ban it at he earliest. This is what I feel.
