Some people say that quality of education needs to be uniform so that all the educated would get employed whereas there is another view that it is so difficult to maintain uniform quality of education owing to many factors.

• Why is it important that there is uniform quality education?
• What stands on the way of quality education for all?

Of late, uniform quality education is demanded for greater employability. However, keeping the same quality across the spectrum is an arduous job. This essay tries to see why a particular standard in education is mandatory, and what all factors that hamper it.

Firstly, the basic purpose of any education is to make one lead a civilized, productive and meaningful life. This purpose is served only if the quality of education received is able to make a person find a living which, in turn, is a highly demanding task. Secondly, uniform growth of a nation is possible only if all the educated people are worth employing. Thirdly, meeting the employability quotient, in today’s private-sector-driven employment scenario, is not a cake walk for any one with substandard education.

For example, today’s employers need people with right knowledge, enough confidence, rare common sense and industry-friendly skills for making their businesses succeed. Obviously, uniform quality education will see that the educated meet their employers’ expectations.

Let me see what stops this quality from happening. The primary thing is quality education is extremely expensive as it is provided mostly by private educational players. Second thing is that no government is in position to observe that this quality is maintained by all education service providers, either private or public. Thirdly, so long as people happen to stay under different socio-economic statuses, it is rather impossible for all to achieve this goal. These are the major factors I am able to identify.

In short, education needs to make all the educated living decent lives. This is possible only if there is uniform quality which, unfortunately, is blocked by a few impediments. Here it is right to add that education sans quality is of no use at all.
