Telshi from the UK solves task II

Some people believe that person’s future can be planned and executed but, some others hold the view that life is so unpredictable that planning one’s future would not work as we expect.

Discuss and say what you feel about the unpredictability of life.

In today’s world, people are more aware about their future life. Many people hold the opinion that through planning life can be executed. Others, however, disagree that nobody can expect what would happen in life. This essay will discuss both views with relevant examples.

First of all, it is true that planning is essential to achieve success in life. If people have available resources such as money and education, they could plan life according to their wish. To cite an example, well educated people get good job opportunities out of sheer planning. Therefore, parents try to provide better educational facilities to their children. Moreover, people save money as an asset for their children which would help them to lead quality life. Planning works in many cases.
On the other hand, it is fact that life is unpredictable and it would change at any time. People have no idea about what would happen in the future. For instance, some people could not fulfill their wishes in life due to diseases or unexpected turn of events and developments. Therefore, pre-planned life may not be always work out, especially in some situations when parents scarify their ambitions for the better life of their children.
In my point of view, even though future life is unexpected, planning has its own importance to lead a successful life. People should be careful when planning their life and should adopt the changes that would happen in their life.

To conclude, well planned life has got great significance. However, life would not be expected same as people may plan it out. Therefore, it is good to be cautious all the while of their future life and should accept changes as they come by.

Line graph on food meat consumption in china. TElsh

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
The graph below shows the changes in food consumption by Chinese people between 1985 and 2010. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graph compares the changes that happened in the consumption of food, mentioned in grams per person per wee in China from 1985 to 2010.

It is evident from the graph that people used more fish compared to meat and salt in those periods. In 1985, the amount was 600 grams per week, and then it gradually increased to 700 grams, followed by a slight decline to 600 grams in 1995. While, in the following years, there was a continuous spurt in the fish consumption and reached to 850 grams in 2010.

It can be seen that approximately 490 grams of salt was consumed in 1985. Then, its usage decreased in the following two decades, and reached to 200 grams in 2010, a fall in quantity far more than half. Whereas, people used only 100 grams meat in 1985, but, there was steady growth in its usage over the next 20 years and reached to 200 grams in 2010, two times increase.

To sum up, it is clear from the graph that consumption of fish and meat increased while the usage of salt decreased during those 25 years.

Line Graph
The line graph compares the number of people who visited three museums in London from June to September in the year 2013. It is evident from the graph that the highest number of people visited British museum during that time.

In June, 600,000 people visited British museum. Then, the number increased to approximately 750,000, followed by a marked deduction in August, that was 500,000.However, there was a gradual increase  in the figure to about 650,000 in the month of September. Meanwhile, 40,000 people visited Science museum in June. In the following two months , it can be seen that it slowly declined to 300,000, whereas, in September, the number gently increased to around 475, 000. While, approximately 550,000 people came to visit Natural   History Museum in June, what followed was a gradual decrease down to about 380,000  in July and it remained stable until August. It was followed by a gradual increase  to nearly 480,000.

To sum up, it is clear from the graph that majority of people visited British museum during those four months. 168 words

Long haul travels, greater and fewer apprehensions. biji scotland

Generally, long haul travelers are always apprehensive of the place they are going to visit. Some people are of the view that such apprehensions are much higher in number today than it was; while others say that it is the other way around.

·        Discuss both the views and say what you feel of the second view?

These days many people are of the opinion that people are more concerned about their long distance journeys than they used to (more than, not more compared to) . Many, however, disagree with this point.  Let me discuss these views and state what I feel of the latter view.

It is true to say that people are always worrying about the place where they are going to visit. Its severity is higher in the case of long journeys.  As compared to the past, this apprehension is much lesser  these days. It is mainly because of the advancements in the field of technology. Nowadays, sophisticated communication systems allow people to contact the world around them in  seconds. So, they can plan and arrange everything according to their needs. For example, people can book their hotel, arrange guide, and contact their friends or relatives as soon as they reach that place. This would definitely ease their tension and make their journey more comfortable.

On the other hand, opponents may believe that these tensions were higher in the past. In the bygone days, long travels journey much fewer than today due to lack of facilities. Even though people were interested, it was not possible due to lack of development in the field of technology, transport and international agreements. At that time, long journey was problematic. For instance, they did not have many contacts or they had to fall back on themselves until they came back. So, undoubtedly any one can say that long travel was really stressful and fearful. No it is much easier.

From the above mentioned points, it can be concluded that, today long haul travellers are experiencing relaxed and stress-free journeys than it was in the past.

Biji, the first view is: apprehensions are much greater today than it was. The second one is it is much fewer today than it was. There could be past references, but it is not too much about how it was like in the past. Rather, today, there are reasons for great apprehensions, and at the same time, there are reasons for fewer apprehensions, with reference to the past obviously.
Barring  this slight slip and jumper order of the answer, I would have rated this essay for clean seven, but What happened to the part of the question that what you feel of the second opinion? What you have said is --- what others say--- not what you say of the second view.

That task failure will cost you dearly, and score will be 6 unless the graph answer is so strong

Innovations and challenges> Essay by Biji scotland

Some technological innovations aimed to make human life easier and more interesting, at times, make life complex and annoying.  Some say the manufacturers need to self-regulate such innovations, while others say it is the end-user who should manage it.

·         Do you think manufactures can keep innovations people-friendly all the time?
·         What can the end-user do in this regard?

Technological innovations can have negative and positive impacts on people. There have been different opinions (plural. not has been) on who should take care of the innovation-generated problems: is it the manufacturer or the end-user? To me, the former cannot do much but the latter is in a better position.

It is true to say that technological innovations can make people’s life more convenient and interesting, but at at the same time, complex and difficult. Many people believe that manufactures need to adopt people-friendly approach and regulate its influences. This is not possible every time. Today, most of the manufactures are profit-oriented. They adopt various measures for increasing their profit. They try to showcase only the positive aspects of their products and never think about their negative influences among the people. However, (repetition of at the same time) governments can implement certain rules for its regulations, but they cannot control them fully. The main reason is  they do not have the right to control individual choices and privacy.

Consumers, on the other hand, are at a greater advantage in this connection. Certain technologies like television and computers facilitate people to acquire knowledge, relaxation and enjoyment. However, these can make a person more mechanical and inactive. In this case, definitely, consumers need to manage their time and schedules accordingly. It is a fact that every day, new technologies are emerging out. People should select and adopt them according to their needs.

From the above mentioned points, it can be concluded that, even though technological innovations provide more comforts and benefits, no one can deny their negative aspects. So, consumers should be wise enough to realize the fact that all innovations are for man’s better well being.

I rate it as a seven quality essay, but for the following comments.

285 words, much better worded essay with enough points, but there is dearth for examples. Another thing is, it was about innovations, not simply about all technologies.

A band seven essay from Ms. Telsi from Ireland

Do you agree or disagree with the view that children should read only material on written facts, real events, and actual people.

The attitude towards reading varies in adult people and children. Many people hold the opinion that children should read only books which contain real life experiences and original truth. I totally disagree with this view. 35 words

First of all, reading skill is an important factor for the development of children. So that, reading materials should be prepared according to the interest of the child . Moreover, children do not feel bored when they read books of their choice as it would give them relaxation from academic studies. Therefore, children’s books should be alternated and must have some fantasy for the development of imagination and creativity skills. To cite an example, comic and story books help them to create new stories and thereby have great enjoyment especially when they want to get relief from studies’ pressure.

However, in today’s world, children should have knowledge about real facts and original incidents which are happening around the world. And also, they should be aware about lived experiences of famous persons. When they read such books, they become motivated and eventually try to adopt the qualities what they have. For example, autobiographies of famous personalities always provide inspiration for the children to face challenges in future life.

In my point of view, children should read not only books that contain real facts and original events but also fiction and comics in order to help them improve skills such as imagination, logical thinking , intellectual development and so on.

To conclude, reading habits of children have changed these days. So that their books should be prepared according to the aptitude of children. The books they read must facilitate them to lead a quality life.

Travellers have much fewer apprehensions today. essay

See this solved paper quizzically like, vocab, connectors, punctuation, paragraphing, examples, prepositions task fulfillment and the like.

Some people believe that the new age travelers who happen to be in different geographies for education, tourism, business and the alike do not need to be as apprehensive as those (travelers)  of the olden times.

·         How right is this belief in your opinion?

Travellers have always had some apprehensions whenever they have switched places for different purposes. Naturally, travellers these days too have to face a few. However, there is great substance in the view that these challenges are much fewer. 38. words

In an all encompassing world order where governments stand prepared to depend on each other for almost all matters, it is a policy for them to ensure that international travelers are comfortable when they are in their soil.  (pretty long sentence)  Actually, this is a balancing act or a win-win equation for both. For example, when people of the western countries visit India for whatever purposes, we make sure that they are not apprehensive of the place because great many Indians are in the western hemisphere where they have to be much less apprehensive as well. (pretty long sentence) Now nations know that they must play good hosts. (closing)

In addition to this, travel and tourism, hospitality and allied businesses (vocab) are banking greatly on international traveler and they are ready to travel the extra mile to make things ship-shape for travelers. Let it be site seeing, accommodation, finding guides, domestic travel, clearing formalities or anything of that sort are being taken very good care of, obviously for a price. Above all, the transparency the world enjoys through information explosion keeps people informed of how or what a place is going to be like when they land in there. Sure, there are not many surprising apprehensions. ( closing)

Considering the above state of affairs seen almost everywhere, those who are on the move across borders can experience greater comfort levels these days than those of the past had had. The general apprehensions on strange places are there for all, and will be there for all the ages to come.

what if an innovation turns out to be harmful?

Some technological innovations aimed to make human life easier and more interesting, at times, make life complex and annoying.  Some say the manufacturers need to self-regulate such innovations, while others say it is the end-user who should manage it.

·         Do you think manufactures can keep innovations people-friendly all the time?
·         What can the end-user do in this regard?   Ajaypeesdoc.2.12.14

The instances of innovations turning out be counterproductive are not new to both the manufacturers and end-users. In this context, I do not think the former can do much all the time, but the latter is at a better position.
The manufacturers’ prime objective is to gain market presence, and they know it takes a lot to achieve something distinct in the field of technology. Obviously, no manufacturer would go to the extent of ignoring the public concerns a particular innovation may raise. For example, if there is great public outcry on a particular innovation like it disturbs the privacy or personal freedom of a person, like Google glass or the night vision camera technology of Sony, companies may take steps to self-regulate. But, this is likely to give companies tough times.

Naturally, the onus lies on the shoulders of the consumer. Unless the consumer is responsible and intelligent, any innovation can become a threat to others. Let me city an example. The camera application in wearable devices like mobile phones are intended to do good to people, but if consumers fail to behave with it, neither the maker nor the technology can help it. Let’s take Bluetooth for example. It is a great innovation, but many people apply wrongly posing threat to others. So is the case with Morphing technology.  The thing is not what, but how a device is used.

My conclusion is that technology, whatever that is, cannot but go on innovating. But, when it comes to how a new device is going to be used or abused cannot always be determined by the innovators, rather it is in the hands of those who avail the services of such innovations.

ELTS Writing Task 2: education / practical skills Several students have asked me to help them with this IELTS question: Some people think that school children need to learn practical skills such as car maintenance or bank account management along with the academic subjects at school. To what extent do you agree or disagree? Here are some suggestions (this is NOT an essay): 1. Introduce the topic then give your opinion I would write that it is true that children learn academic subjects at school, but not many practical skills. However, I would then disagree that schools should teach skills like bank account management and car maintenance. 2. First supporting paragraph I would write a paragraph about the importance of academic subjects like maths, science, languages etc. We live in a knowledge-based economy where independent thinking and problem solving are the most important skills. With timetables already full, schools do not have time to teach children anything else. 3. Second supporting paragraph I would argue that bank account management is a 'life skill' that anyone can learn by simply opening a bank account. Most adults have no problem managing their finances without being taught accounting lessons at school. Other skills like car maintenance are not really necessary. Most people take their cars to a qualified mechanic. 4. Conclusion Repeat the idea that schools are already doing a good job teaching the traditional academic subjects. If they start to teach practical skills, the study of important academic subjects will suffer.

Apprehensions of long distance travellers, greater or fewer. task II ielts

< Generally, long haul travelers are always apprehensive of the place they are going to visit. Some people are of the view that such apprehensions are much higher in number today than it was; while others say that it is the other way around. • Discuss both the views and say what you feel of the second view? INtroduction Being wary of a new place is quite natural. However, the view that long distance travelers are suffering from great number of fears is not that well founded, rather there are many reasons to believe that the second view is of great significance. Second paragraph As a matter of fact, all geographies are different and people might face some challenges when they land in a new place. However, these days, the differences in social life, security, climate, food, dress, travel and local cultures are much more transparent for all, obviously barring a few. For example, Indian nationals are found in almost all nations and great many are moving out for many purposes like education, business, tourism and the like. Not many are reported to have felt greater apprehensions on a new place. This indicates that long distance mobility leaves much fewer apprehensions than before. Third paragraph The first view seems to be a little exaggerated. The thing is that there are some places that are sensitive and one’s maiden visit to such a place may raise some concerns on security, mobility, stay, and gender disparity and so on. But, the extent of such instances is so limited compared to the other side of the world where we experience an all compassing attitude of association through human capital export, tourism, trade, commerce, diplomacy and so goes the list. Maybe there are a few sporadic cases where travelers might undergo some fears on racism, cultural bias and the like. Conclusion Concluding the discussion, what I feel of the second view is that there are enormous possibilities for transnational travelers to be confident and they do not need to be scary or wary of anything. There may be isolated locations where the story may not be that rosy. It seems to me that certain apprehensions are based on hearsays. 285 words Ajaypeesdoc. 30. 11.14 Google. Vaatupura A. Gender disparity in the richer world too. task two by biji Scotland

Even highly developed countries seem to be falling short of gender equality expectations and many countries have failed to close the gender gap. • Why is gender inequality so persistent around the world? • What suggestions can you make so that genders can be brought closer? INtroduction These days, many countries try to reduce gender inequalities, but this is not possible due to various reasons. It is a socially relevant issue and needs to be addressed carefully. This essay will examine various cause and possible solutions to this problem. Second para It is true to say that gender inequality is still prevalent in today’s advanced world. The first and the foremost is the lack of education. At present, in some remote areas of certain countries, education is not possible due to lack of infrastructure and resources. Another factor is social bias. In many countries, it is commonly believed that men are superior to women in all aspects. Traditionally, it is a notion that women tend to do household work. This concept may still persist in some areas, even though women rub shoulders with men. Moreover, certain people believe that men are undoubtedly adapted genetically to perform physically exerting tasks. As a result, women try to move away from these paths. Third para There are various solutions to reduce these inequalities. Education is the first battle to reduce this problem. Education broadens mind of the people and prepare them to accept and respect. In addition, government should implement various rules to protect women and improve their position in every field based on their ability. Moreover, they should increase women’s participation in political and other decision-making processes, along with motivating them from household tasks to national and international levels. This would definitely change society’s attitude towards women and encourage their participation in every field. These measures definitely reduce gender gap. Conclusion From the above mentioned points, it can be concluded that gender inequities can be minimized wisely by adopting a few pro-active measures. The resistance this inequality maintains is generated out of a history of evolution that is as old as human life.
