A band seven essay from Ms. Telsi from Ireland

Do you agree or disagree with the view that children should read only material on written facts, real events, and actual people.

The attitude towards reading varies in adult people and children. Many people hold the opinion that children should read only books which contain real life experiences and original truth. I totally disagree with this view. 35 words

First of all, reading skill is an important factor for the development of children. So that, reading materials should be prepared according to the interest of the child . Moreover, children do not feel bored when they read books of their choice as it would give them relaxation from academic studies. Therefore, children’s books should be alternated and must have some fantasy for the development of imagination and creativity skills. To cite an example, comic and story books help them to create new stories and thereby have great enjoyment especially when they want to get relief from studies’ pressure.

However, in today’s world, children should have knowledge about real facts and original incidents which are happening around the world. And also, they should be aware about lived experiences of famous persons. When they read such books, they become motivated and eventually try to adopt the qualities what they have. For example, autobiographies of famous personalities always provide inspiration for the children to face challenges in future life.

In my point of view, children should read not only books that contain real facts and original events but also fiction and comics in order to help them improve skills such as imagination, logical thinking , intellectual development and so on.

To conclude, reading habits of children have changed these days. So that their books should be prepared according to the aptitude of children. The books they read must facilitate them to lead a quality life.
