A 7.5 band essay by Ms. Biji Lukose from Scotland, my online student
The carbon menace is real, and the world governments have been mulling (seriously considering) ways to scale down its footprint for quite some time now. However, there is hardly any let up in the concerns it raises.
The carbon menace is real, and the world governments have been mulling (seriously considering) ways to scale down its footprint for quite some time now. However, there is hardly any let up in the concerns it raises.
· Why is it so happening?
· Do you think the world
can go on like this for long?
Nowadays, carbon menace is a great threat
which affects the entire world seriously. Even though governments try to reduce
its influences, they fail to solve this problem due to various reasons. In my
opinion, life may not be possible, if this condition lasts for long time.
It is a fact that level of carbon dioxide is
increasing day by day. It is not possible for the government to reduce its
emission globally. There are various reasons for this. The main reason is the
over penetration of modernization. Rise in the number of cars and industries
increases carbon dioxide and monoxide levels in the atmosphere.
Another source is burning of fossil fuels from
power plants. This releases thousands of tonnes of carbon dioxide in to the
atmosphere every year. Industrialization, globalization and over population are
other causes. For example, due to their influences, most of the woodlands
are being replaced to multi-storey buildings. Deforestation increases
the amount of carbon dioxide level in the atmosphere, thanks to poor carbon
recycling.
This can disturb the weather pattern and make human
life more miserable. For example, floods and droughts will become more
common and disturb the normal life of people. In addition, this can change the
ecosystem and cause the extinction of certain species. If it is allowed
to continue, life will become dangerous and impossible.
From the above mentioned points, it can be
concluded that carbon menace is great threat to the world, and it can perish
the world quickly. So, it should be controlled at any cost, else life will be
next to impossible no sooner than later. That is what I feel.
