Developing transportation modes like airways, super fast roadways and the like involves huge financial outlay. But a small proportion of the population enjoys the benefits. Therefore, it is unwise to invest hugely on such projects.

How does this argument sound to you?

It is speed that makes economies grow faster. Obviously, we need faster transportation infrastructure. Coming to how wise it is to spend too much for a few people, I would say, it is the wisest thing. Let me prove it.

Firstly, the need for traveling faster is not felt by all. That is, only a small percentage of the population wants to move faster. For example; businessmen, Non Residents, expatriate work force and tourists are the ones who feel the need for expensive and faster travel modes.

Secondly, expecting all people to be able to directly benefit from expensive development projects like transportation is premature. What I mean is that when people of great business sense travel faster, their men, money and machinery work more efficiently. This faster functioning helps them spin more money.

Thirdly, it is right to argue that when men, machinery and money work, they generate opportunities of varying dimensions which are ultimately grabbed by a greater proportion of the population. For example, CEOs of big businesses need to move faster so that they will be able to generate development.

On the other hand, if we conclude that it is unwise to spend a lot on expensive travel modes, the very development process will go slower and the engine of the economy will come to a grinding halt.

In short, it is a small proportion of the population that makes real differences in terms of development. Therefore, as speed is the need of the hour, it is of paramount importance and wiser as well to spend sizably for expensive and faster modes of transportation.
