The bar chart gives information about total number of England
call minutes by various categories of telephones mentioned in billions between
1995 and 2002.
The most significant feature is that the use of mobile phones
and national, international fixed lines rose whereas, local line call rates declined
during those eight years.
It can be clearly seen that, in 1995, the total number of
call minutes by mobile phone was only two billion, and then, its figure
dramatically increased throughout the years and reached its all time high level of about 45 billion in 2002. Meanwhile,
fixed line call rate was nearly 38 million minutes in 1995. Then, the figure
gradually escalated to approximately 61b. in 2002.
However, there was 42 billion minutes call by local line in
1992, and it went up to 90 b. in 1999, more than two-fold rise. Subsequent to this, there was a steady
decline throughout the years and, finally, it was 72 b. 2000, an increase by 75%.
It is evident that UK people had more interest in cell phones
and international and national fixed lines than local line.
