A distant place you visited. cue card. IELTS answer. token
Two minutes’ exercise: Cue card
Please note the TENSE sensitivity of this answer. How sentences alternate with present and past tenses. The examiners check this skill. To speak in different tenses at a time.
Answering:
Well, I am fortunate to have visited so many distant places in my life.
Some of them are known for great environs, of course.
The one I am going to talk about is a hill station.
It is called Kumili. It is border a point in the Idukki district.
It is some 90 kilometres away from my place.
I went to this place a few years’ back as part of a pleasure trip.
It was in September 2004, if I remember right.
Actually it was a pleasure trip we friends organized all by ourselves.
We were five, and were traveling in a car.
It all went like this. We started off in the early morning itself.
I need not say that the trip itself was really fascinating.
The road to Kumili is really adventurous and breathtaking.
As the road was winding with sharp hairpin curves,
It took nearly 3 hours to get there.
Right after reaching there we took our breakfast
Then we went for sightseeing.
Yes, Kumili has great things to offer for tourists.
It is a calm and quite place with beautiful environment.
There are many things that attract people to this place.
Primarily, its height and the resultant weather.
It is cold up there, and the whole hill lock is full of trees.
The road, at some places, is highly dangerous.
Because they are cut along the hillside
and these is huge raven at some sides.
Secondly, Kumily has some beautiful streams and small water falls
We visited some of them, and we had a beautiful natural bath at one.
That was a rejuvenating experience. The water was so cold and feel was great.
We took a lot of photographs on the way, too.
On our way back we stopped at some places
for enjoying the natural beauty from distance.
We had a different experience out of that one-day trip.
That is all about the distant place I visited.
Take this as a token answer, and you may select your destination: moonnar, idukki, vazhachal, ponmudi, ooty, nilgiris or whatever, and develop an answer in accordance with their features and significance. Please try to apply the frame of the above answer. Words, steps, personal phrases, vocabulary, divisions and conclusion. Good luck.
A tree found commonly in your state: cue card for IELTS model answer
Two minutes’ exercise: Cue card
Well, my state is known for great green cover.
And it has great wealth of tree varieties, too
The one I would like to talk about is the most common coconut tree.
To begin with, this tree is so common in our state.
And our state is named after this tree.
That is, Keralam in Malayalam means the land of Kera trees.
Something special about this tree, I think, is that it is ubiquitous.
There is no family in the countrysides without at least a coconut tree.
Coming to its other features, it is a tree of great significance.
Primarily, it is a tree of spiritual and cultural significance.
That is, coconut is seen as a sign of wealth and prosperity.
And people use it on all major occasions:
Like marriages, poojas, rituals and ceremonies.
Secondly, all the parts of this tree are useful someway.
Its trunk is so hard and lasting that people use it for furniture.
Its leaves are also useful. Plaited leaves are used for thatching roofs
And coconut kernel and oil products are widely used in Kerala dishes
And finally, its shell and husk are raw materials.
They are used for coir products and many artifacts.
All the other parts, say, its dry bunches,
its pods and leaf bones, to mention a few, are used as firewood.
Well, it would be unfair if I don’t mention about tender coconut.
It is a great health drink, which both the natives and tourists like alike.
Even doctors recommend it. It is a rejuvenating drink for patients.
Those who suffer from dehydration, diarrhoea etc get speedy recovery.
So this tree is socially, medically and spiritually significant.
That is all about it.
Take this as a token answer, and you may select a tree of your like: Mango, jack tree, banyan, palm, rubber, teak, mahagony etc. and develop an answer in accordance with their significance. Please try to apply the frame of the above answer. Words, steps, personal phrases, vocabulary, divisions and conclusion. Good luck. jaypeesukham@yahoo.com

Gender parity an IELTS essay by Nisha
• What are the factors that promote this trend?
• What advantages does the society enjoy out of this?
It is a fact that selection of a profession is a personal choice. It does not depend upon one’s gender but the attitude of a person. Today, people are able to do any job without any discrimination on the basis of gender. 40 words
There are lots of opportunities in this globalized world. So people can select their profession according to their interests. In the past some professions were gender centric. For example, mainly female were attracted to nursing. But today the situation has changed. Now, males are also going for nursing. It offers national and international job opportunities. 65 words
Another thing is the need for a job is very important now. Financial pressures of today’s hectic world force people to do any work and they are willing to do any job. In almost all fields, women are working like men and vice versa. Today society also gives equal importance to women. Now women too do the same job once men did, and they earn for family like men do. Society also accepts it. 70 words
When it comes to the advantages, society enjoys many. Manpower is the most important wealth of the country. So, when males and females work equally, it improves the standard of living and the country’s wealth. So people can lead better lives. Poverty can also be eliminated from the society. This attitudinal change helps both the genders contribute their shares to the society so as to improve its standard of living. 70 words
Therefore, it can be concluded that humanity includes both the males and females, and talents and intelligence are not gender sensitive. Both can give their own contributions towards the betterment of the society. So gender parity in professions is good. 40 words

Factors that promote this trend are many. Firstly, today’s globlized world provides, without any gender discrimination, ample opportunities for youngsters. This is perhaps, people all over the world now accept the contributions of both the genders and is aware of the fact that intelligence, expertise, attitude and talents are not gender specific. So anybody can apply for any job one wishes. This attitudinal change also has resulted in the diversification of education. Now admissions for professional courses are open for all. Secondly, people come across several familial pressures. More over, the need for money and the zeal to become secure forces them to do any job. 100 words
The fruits of gender parity in profession are numerous. There is even distribution of human resources in all sectors which in turn results in the over all development of the nation.
