Punishing children is not a good idea. IELTS essay skeleton

It is generally believe that encouraging bright students in front of their classmates is a better idea to motivate other students who fall short of expectations than going for corporal punishments to make them perform.

How far do you agree or disagree with this argument?

Intro:

• Every student is unique and different
• A word of praise will go a long way
• Punishing children is not a good idea
• Motivation can work wonders
• Punishment is a force, but motivation is a fire.
• As a matter of fact it is a brilliant academic exercise.

Argument agreeing:

• Getting noticed is great
• Creates competition
• Bright ones go brighter
• Children love to attend class
• Teachers become catalysts
• Emotional, intellectual balance
• Better relations: teachers/student • Punishing is an uncivilized means
• It breeds hate and discontent.
• Forced leaning is like stuffing
• Some punished are prone disorders
• Some even quit studies
• Snuffs out the fire for learning
• Learning becomes an ordeal

• Therefore it is a good idea
• It is time we scrapped corporal punishment
• Childhood is sensitive period.
• Children needs to be motivated
• Encouragement does work wonders
• Punishing hardly makes any change
