Increasing global urban population mix:
Does it get reflected in your place?
Does it benefit both the rich and poor?
The population diaspora experienced in the urban landscapes of rich and poor nations is a natural process. It is getting reflected in my place as well. But, when it comes to whether both the economies benefit from it equally, I tend to say that it is more proportional than equal. 45 words
Let me show how it is seen in my place. My country, being a developing one, is in the process of change day in and day out. As a result, it (the country) depends on resources and expertise from across the world. In research and development, science and technology, education, administration, sports and games, our nation relies on human resources from other economies. Obviously, there are people from other nations staying, visiting and permanently serving our society. Their proportion may be very small, but they are very much there, and the same is reflected in the population of our urban landscapes. 95 words
Is this population mix equally beneficial for all? It is not, I am afraid. Rather, depending upon many factors, benefits may vary. How developed, populated geographically convenient and, above all, how friendly a nation is with the rest of the world are a few of determining factors. For example, the number of Indian students studying in the UK is much higher than their counterparts in India. So is the case with permanent Indian migrants in the UK population. Needless to say, depending upon their proportion and national statuses, benefits of population mix may differ. It can in no way be equal. 100 words
In short, this global population mix in urban centres will remain so in the days to come. As it is unable to offer equal benefits, it is a good idea to appreciate the possibilities it opens up and wisely manage the disparities it may generate. 45
