Children today are much freer than their counterparts in the past. Some say that this is a welcome development.

No one would like to lose their freedom. Of course, it is a necessity of human beings. But, more freedom is harmful especially in the case of children. Unfortunately, today's children enjoy a lot of freedom. At the face of it, I find it rather agreeable to a great extent.

First of all, today’s life style and family structure are the major causes for greater amount of freedom enjoyed by children compared to those in the past. Today people have to run faster to meet the demands of time and manage the busy schedule. As a result, children of young professional couples are left at home alone or sent to kindergarten. Such children often get much freedom since they are free from adults’ close supervision. For example, one of my aunt's son started to use bad words recently. We were shocked by hearing that. But after a councelling only it was revealed that he learned those words from his favourite television programmes.

The other factor, which I find, results in more freedom for children is the nuclear family system. Nowadays most of the couples in my place have only one or two children. This results in much affection and attachment towards kids. Because of this parents of our society usually neglect children's mistakes and misbehaviors. Actually, they do not want to scold their kids. Eventually, this attitude makes children grow with bad habits and tendencies.

In short, when freedom is a must for humanity more freedom is a curse, especially children. If we ignore this condition, in future, we may have to pay dearly for that. Excess, what ever it is, is no good at all. Total 260 words
