A seven plus answer from Josekutty Ireland

Helping the poor has been a practice for ages, but when it comes to the rich (nations) helping the poor (nations) for long is not a welcome practice.
Do you agree or disagree with this view?

Offer a helping hand to a needy nation is a great thing at all times. However, some believe that helping poor countries for long a long period of time is not a good practice. In my opinion, continuing to support the poor country is acceptable.

First of all, the most obvious reason to support the poor nations is humanitarian prospect. This is to say that, if the people in the poor nations are in need for basic life support such as food, water, shelter and other facilities especially in African countries, then it is the responsibility of all resourceful nations to help these unfortunate countries for a long  period with adequate supplies to sustain a normal life there. So, it seems that helping other nations for long time is just.

On the other hand, some people may say that helping poor nation for long term basis is not apt for any industrialized nations. They point out the fact that it would cause a huge sum of money and government may be forced to put more taxes on the public to make additional funds for their own development and peoples’ welfare. Nevertheless, these are isolated ideas of a particular school and such arguments are not fit for a reasonable circle, and long helping hands to the poor nations is an obligation.

To conclude, long period of help to a poor country’s people is a great way to showcase a rich nation’s responsibility and compassion towards other human beings. No one has ever got damaged oneself by helping others either for once or for a lifetime.
